Right around 20 from the factory is where my initial settings are close for espresso. It is so much quieter than the grinder I am replacing. The plasma generator does seem to help with static, but there is definitely still some static. As static dissipates I can find grinds have fallen out of the exit chute onto the stand by the next day. Most importantly, I can make good espresso with it. If it lasts for a few years I will recommend it. I’m crossing my fingers that it is high quality.
I like it because it’s Quiet with the DC motor.
I have not had it long enough to really say anything about it yet.
I have stock espresso Burrs.
But I don’t know how they will work for me.
I’m still learning.
I have had this grinder on my coffee bar for a little over a week now and I am in love. I haven’t touched my precious Niche Zero since it came in. Build quality is excellent. My Weber Blind Shaker fits in the dosing cup perfectly. The dial to change settings is premium. I like the way the grinder is zeroed and that the grind size indicator is on top and in front. It’s easy to see what setting you are currently on. I chose SSP HU burrs for espresso and DLC Brew burrs. I haven’t tried the brew burrs yet, but I’m excited that I have that option. The flavors that I’m getting from this grinder are fantastic. I dialed in a strawberry co-ferment bean and the cup blew me away! Only word of caution I would give when buying it is to make sure you are extremely consistent on the way you dump beans in since that changes the grind size. Also, I would recommend hot starting. Overall I am absolutely loving my DF83V!
